The Away Concept Store was designed for an online-only luggage company looking to launch their first physical store location. The store opened as a pop-up experience in the bustling SOHO district of New York City in 2016. Elements of this concept store later made their way into Away’s permanent retail shops that have sprung up across the nation and Europe.
Away had curated many products from Sweden and Japan that were available for purchase. The store used Away’s featured suitcases as a divider between Swedish and Japanese merchandise and physically split the store into distinct destinations that the customer had to navigate in order to shop thus invoking the experience of travel and tourism.
